At Tablakala, we ship our height-adjustable desks to the Canary Islands.
We send orders almost every week to Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, or El Hierro.
Many brands don't ship to the Canary Islands because transportation is more expensive, customs management is complex, and delivery times differ from the Peninsula.
We do ship. After all, the Canary Islands are also Spain, and we are a Spanish brand. Why wouldn't we ship there?
However, shipments to the Canary Islands have some important peculiarities that should be known before placing an order.
On this page, we explain how it works.
How to buy a Tablakala height-adjustable desk from the Canary Islands
The process is simple:
- Choose the height-adjustable desk you want to buy.
- Add it to the cart.
- Enter your shipping address in the Canary Islands.
- Upon entering your Canary Islands postcode, the website will calculate the corresponding transport cost.
- At the same time, the product price will be shown without mainland VAT, as it is an operation exempt from VAT due to the Canary Islands having a different tax regime.
- Once the order is placed, our team will process the shipment with the carrier.
For the Canary Islands, it is very important to indicate the recipient's DNI or NIE after the surname in the shipping address, as it is necessary for import management.
Example: José García - DNI 12345678A
This data allows the carrier to correctly process the shipment for customs clearance upon arrival.
An option for the Canary Islands: frame without tabletop
In the Canary Islands, there is a specific option: buy only the height-adjustable desk frame and purchase the tabletop locally in the Canary Islands.
Why? Because the tabletop is large, heavy, and bulky. Shipping a desk frame + tabletop implies higher transport costs, as is logical.
The Tablakala frame travels in a single package. You can then buy a compatible tabletop in the Canary Islands, for example, at Leroy Merlin, Ikea, or another local store, as long as it meets the appropriate measurements and thickness.
It is not mandatory to do it this way: you can buy the complete desk with the tabletop if you prefer. But if you are looking for a more efficient purchase for the Canary Islands, our recommendation is usually: Tablakala desk frame + tabletop purchased locally in the Canary Islands.
How to buy only the frame
On the product pages, you can buy the complete desk or just the frame.
To buy only the frame, select:
Tabletop size: No tabletop
Tabletop color: No tabletop
It is important to select "No tabletop" in both options.
Once done, you will only be able to add the height-adjustable desk frame to your cart.
Shipping cost to the Canary Islands
The shipping cost to the Canary Islands depends on the number of packages.
As a reference:
Only desk frame: between €45 and €50 for transport
Frame + tabletop: €100 for transport
That is, the current cost (mid-2026) is between €45 and €50 per package. Please note that this is a real cost that we bear, and it may be subject to changes by our carrier. Shipping to the Canary Islands costs more than shipping to the Peninsula. We do not hide it behind nice phrases or disguise it with "free shipping" that then doesn't exist.
The exact and updated amount will be shown at checkout when you enter your postcode and shipping address in the Canary Islands.
VAT, IGIC, AIEM, and customs
Shipments to the Canary Islands have a different tax treatment than those to the Peninsula.
When you enter a shipping address in the Canary Islands with your postcode, the website recalculates the order price by deducting the 21% mainland VAT, as the invoice is issued exempt from VAT in accordance with Article 21 of Law 37/1992 on VAT.
This means you do not pay mainland VAT on the order.
However, the carrier will request payment of the corresponding import taxes and charges in the Canary Islands from the recipient before delivery.
Normally, we are talking about:
-
IGIC: 7% on the invoice value, including product and transport.
-
Customs clearance and, in some cases, AIEM: in our experience, this amount is more variable, around an additional 5-8%.
The IGIC is usually the clearest cost. For example, if the invoice is €300, the IGIC would be approximately €21.
The customs clearance and AIEM part can vary. In our experience, some customers are charged €20, others €30 or €40, depending on the order and the policy of the destination Customs.
As a rough guide, it is usually around 5-8% of the order, but we cannot guarantee the exact amount because it depends on the processing of the import clearance in the Canary Islands.
Indicative example of costs
Imagine an order of €300 shipped to the Canary Islands.
The approximate calculation would be:
| Concept |
Approximate amount |
| Product + transport, without mainland VAT |
€300 |
| IGIC 7% |
€21 |
| Customs clearance / AIEM |
Variable, e.g., €15-35 |
| Estimated additional total at destination |
€36-56 |
This example is indicative.
The exact amount will be requested by the carrier according to the corresponding customs management.
The advantage is that you do not pay the 21% mainland VAT. However, you must take into account the local taxes and import duties specific to the Canary Islands.
Customs clearance authorization document
To process the shipment to the Canary Islands, it may be necessary to sign a customs clearance authorization.
In that case, after placing the order, our team will send you a document for you to sign and return.
This document allows the collaborating transport company to manage the import at customs as quickly as possible upon the arrival of the order in the Canary Islands.
Without this signed document, it is not possible to proceed with the shipment.
As soon as we receive it signed, we proceed with the processing so that your order can be dispatched as quickly as possible.
Delivery times to the Canary Islands
Shipments to the Canary Islands usually embark weekly on Fridays.
As a reference: orders confirmed by Wednesday at 13:00h usually embark that same Friday and are delivered at the end of the following week, depending on the destination island and weather conditions on the maritime route.
Orders confirmed after Wednesday at 13:00h usually embark on the Friday of the following week and are delivered towards the end of the week after that.
The estimated usual delivery time for the Canary Islands is 7 to 14 business days.
This is not the same timeframe as mainland Spain, as the Canary Islands require embarkation, customs, and inter-island transport. It's a different process.
That's why we prefer to explain it beforehand.
Which height-adjustable desk to choose if you are buying from the Canary Islands
If you are buying from the Canary Islands, our recommendation depends on your specific case.
If you want to optimize transport costs, we recommend buying only the frame.
If you work with a normal setup —laptop, one screen, keyboard, and mouse—, the Tablakala 1 Motor can be a very balanced option.
If you want more stability, use multiple screens, or are looking for a more robust desk, the Tablakala 2 Motors is the most complete option.
You can then add a compatible tabletop purchased locally in the Canary Islands. However, make sure the tabletop has the correct size, depth, and thickness for the chosen frame, as indicated in each product description.
Compatible tabletop measurements
If you buy only the frame, these are the general references:
-
Tablakala 1 Motor: compatible with tabletops of width 100-160 cm, depth 50-80 cm, and minimum thickness of 1.9 cm
-
Tablakala 2 Motors: compatible with tabletops of width 110-200cm, depth 60-90cm, and minimum thickness of 1.9cm.
We recommend choosing a solid, stable, and thick tabletop.
At Tablakala, we use 3 cm tabletops manufactured in Spain because they provide presence, stability, and durability. If you buy the tabletop locally, try to get a serious one; we advise against putting a good frame under a weak tabletop.
